TOLUENE BIOFILTRATION AS AFFECTED BY RYEGRASS ROOTS
Environmental Engineering and Management Journal › Vol. 17 › Nr. 8 Gaseous toluene biofiltration as affected by ryegrass (Lolium perenne L.) roots was investigated in this study. The results revealed that the populations of bacteria, actinomycetes were larger in the ryegrass rhizosphere than in the bulk soil since ryegrass provided root exudates as major nutrients available for the microorganisms. An increase in the microbial populations in a ryegrass-growing biofilter would significantly stimulate toluene biodegradation in comparison with a vegetation-free bio... EFFECT OF Cd2+ STRESS ON SEED GERMINATION CHARACTERISTICS OF RYEGRASS, INDIAN MUSTARD AND GRAIN AMARANTH
Environmental Engineering and Management Journal › Vol. 18 › Nr. 9 In order to select a better plant to extract cadmium in heavy metal contaminated soil, a hydroponic germination experiment was designed to evaluate the effects of cadmium on seed germination characteristics of Grain amaranth (Amaranthus hypochondriacus L.), Indian mustard (Brassica juncea) and Ryegrass (Lolium perenne L.). The results showed that fresh weight, dry weight and germination index of Ryegrass were promoted at the low cadmium concentrations (≤ 25 mg/L), while that of 3 plants was i... EFFECT OF THIOSULFONATE-BIOSURFACTANT COMPOSITIONS ON PLANTS GROWN IN OIL POLLUTED SOIL
Environmental Engineering and Management Journal › Vol. 19 › Nr. 11 The work is devoted to the search and investigation of the properties of the effective environmentally friendly phytoremediation activators. An integrated approach was used to evaluate the effect of the compositions of thiosulfonates with rhamnolipid biosurfactant on remediation plants. The biochemical and biophysical analysis of the rapeseed and ryegrass plants grown in the oil polluted soil - photosynthetic pigments, indicators of oxidative reactions and electrical impedance characteristics we...
