REDUCED UPTAKE OF Cd AND Pb BY Miscanthus sinensis x giganteus CULTIVATED ON POLLUTED SOIL AND ITS USE AS BIOFUEL
Environmental Engineering and Management Journal › Vol. 12 › Nr. 2
Abstract
The cultivation of Miscanthus sinensis x giganteus on a polluted soil near Copsa Mica – Romania has started in 2008. Since then
every March and August the roots and stems have been analyzed, showing a very low amount of heavy metals in the aerial parts
in February, when the harvesting takes place. The combustion properties of the material are similar to those of lignite, but
without sulphur and with low ash amount. Because cultivation of edible plants poses the risk of hea... Autori: Constantin Horia Barbu ISSN: 1843 - 3707 http://www.ecozone.ro/reviste.php?RID=26106
FLUORIDE CONTENT IN SOME TEA LEAVES AND TEA INFUSIONS
Environmental Engineering and Management Journal › Vol. 12 › Nr.12 AbstractFluoride content in some available teas, dry leaves and tea infusions were determined, in order to check the influence of brewingtime on fluoride content in tea and to compare the percent extraction of fluoride releasing during tea infusion time. A fluoride ionselective electrode was used to determinate the fluoride content in tea samples (Hypericum perforatum, Tilia cordata andCamellia sinensis). Total fluoride contents of tea leaves were determined to be 91.1 - 162 mg/kg d.w., and 0.09... Autori: Semaghiul Birghila ISSN: 1843 - 3707 http://www.ecozone.ro/reviste.php?RID=26242
STUDY OF Cd (II) AND Cr (VI) BIOSORPTION BY MESOCARPS OF ORANGE AND SOUR ORANGE FROM AQUEOUS SOLUTIONS
Environmental Engineering and Management Journal › Vol. 13 › Nr. 2 AbstractThe objectives of this study were to investigate of cadmium and chromium adsorption from aqueous solutions by using orange (Citrus sinensis var Tampson) and sour orange (Citrus aurantium) mesocarp. The chemometric approach was applied for the optimization of removal percent of Cd2+ and Cr6+. To optimize Cd2+ and Cr6+ removal percent, the effect of four experimental parameters on removal percent was investigated by means of multivariate analysis. The considered factors were Cd2+ and Cr6+ ... Autori: Maryam Bagheri Ardebilian, Mohammad Ali Zazouli, Pouneh Ebrahimi ISSN: 1843 - 3707 http://www.ecozone.ro/reviste.php?RID=26287
EVALUATION OF FOUR PESTICIDES RESIDUES CONTENTS IN THE CITRUS FRUITS FROM SOUSS-MASSA AREA (MOROCCO)
Environmental Engineering and Management Journal › Vol. 13 › Nr. 3 AbstractA number of 138 samples of citrus fruits (oranges), produced in Souss-Massa area in south of Morocco, were analysed. Amultiresidue method was assessed for the determination of several organophosphorus pesticides using gas chromatography. Theextraction of pesticides was carried out by liquid-liquid extraction and solid-phase clean-up. The pesticide were separated bycapillary column gas chromatography and detected by the Nitrogen Phosphorus Detector (NPD). The majority of pesticidesrecover... PERFORMANCE EVALUATION OF WOOD-BURNING COOKSTOVES IN RURAL AREAS NEAR PUCALLPA, PERU
Environmental Engineering and Management Journal › Vol. 15 › Nr. 11 Rural areas near Pucallpa City in the Peruvian Amazon have no access to electricity. Fuelwood is the main source of energy and is used for open-fire cooking, which is generally considered as less efficient cooking method. The performance of two improved cookstoves (Ceramic Stove - CS and Rocket Stove – RS) has been compared with the traditional open-fire three-stone cooking method locally recognized as Traditional Cocina (TC). The CS and RS were constructed by the indigenous tribe of Shipi... Autori: Iva Kucerova ISSN: 1843 - 3707 http://www.ecozone.ro/reviste.php?RID=27178
UTILIZATION OF Citrus sinensis WASTE FOR THE PRODUCTION OF β-GLUCOSIDASE BY SOLID-STATE FERMENTATION USING A Bacillus subtilis MUTANT
Environmental Engineering and Management Journal › Vol. 16 › Nr. 7 The utilization of agro-industrial waste as a potential substrate for producing enzymes may serve a dual purpose of reducing the environmental pollution along with producing a high value commercial product. Twelve different agro-industrial wastes were evaluated for extracellular BGL (β-glucosidase) production by a mutant of Bacillus subtilis on solid state fermentations (SSF). The Citrus sinensis bagasse was found to be the most suitable substrate with highest BGL titer (35 U/gds). Optimum ... CITRUS AS A MULTIFUNCTIONAL CROP TO PROMOTE NEW BIO-PRODUCTS AND VALORIZE THE SUPPLY CHAIN
Environmental Engineering and Management Journal › Vol. 19 › Nr. 10 Citrus is one of the most important fruit tree crops worldwide, with respect to both total production and economic value. About 80% of the world production is destined to the fresh market, the remaining is processed to obtain various products (juices, jams, etc.). Citrus processing residues account for about 50-60% of processed fruits; their huge amounts and peculiar characteristics need a correct management that imply cost for producers and processors. If not well managed, they can represent an... Autori: Paola Sangiorgio ISSN: 1843 - 3707 http://www.ecozone.ro/reviste.php?RID=28309 |
