The sorption of Pb(II) and Hg(II) ions from aqueous solutions by moss peat (from Poiana Stampei, Romania) was studied in a batch system. The data obtained from experiments of a single-component sorption were analyzed using Langmuir and Freundlich models. The Langmuir equation describe sorption isotherm of Pb(II) and Hg(II) with high correlation coefficients, and better than Freundlich model. According to the Langmuir model, the maximum uptake capacities of moss peat for Pb(II) and Hg(II) were obtained as 117.58 mg/g and 81.97 mg/g, respectively. The effect of temperature on the Pb(II) and Hg(II) sorption process onto moss peat was also investigated, and various thermodynamic parameters, such as ?„G, ?„H, ?„S and Ea have been calculated. |
