Abstract
Acting on the recommendations of the Commissioner for Education, Culture, Multilingualism and Youth - Androulla Vassiliou, EU politicians agreed, at the European Council in Brussels - 2010, that education and training are vital for development and the success of society and the current knowledge-based economy. Educational partnerships among all stakeholders engaged in education are increasingly important, while teachers and all the professionals involved in training young people must support interdisciplinary cooperation regardless of their course of study. Along these lines, we conducted a study through the Teacher Training Department of the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine in Iasi, seeking to identify the most appropriate educational management strategies that may be applied to deliver high performance in teaching and learning. The research undertaken as part of our educational partnership (established between the higher and secondary education level) focused on the prospects for enhancing agronomy students’ teaching practice experience and motivating learning among young students. For the purposes of the research, we carried out questionnaire surveys, curriculum research and interviewing of partners on the need to use modern teaching strategies. One of the findings was that satisfaction and interest can be ensured only by a stimulating the motivation to learn among pupils and students. Using state-of-the-art leadership we successfully managed the simultaneous delivery of demonstration classes in modern laboratories at the university. Most students in the 26 classes at the partner high schools, taking part in the activity labeled “Be a student for a day at the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine in Iasi” stated their desire to study at a modern university in the future. Participating agronomy students and teaching professionals noted an increase in the quality of teaching practice. In view of the success of the activity, confirmed by press and television reports and the statements of the partners involved, we intend to further organize and improve this type of educational approach. |
