Abstract
Based on the 1995-2009 panel data from 29 provinces of China mainland, this paper uses the panel co-integration model to assess
the influence of technology spillover effect from Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and that from import on the carbon emissions
of China. The result shows that both have an inhibitory effect on the carbon emissions, and the inhibitory effects brought by the
latter is more distinct than the former. Based on the analysis, we put forward several points on how to take better advantages of
international technology spillover effect to reduce carbon emissions.
