Polyelectrolyte - surfactant complexes used in the coagulation floculation processes
Environmental Engineering and Management Journal › Vol. 7 › Nr. 1 AbstractThe removal of formasine fines particles from water by precipitation with polyelectrolyte and surfactant complex of Polyacrylamide (industrial product Praestol 611 made by Degussa) and Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLS) was experimentally studied. Calcium oxide was added to initiate precipitation of the polyelectrolyte complex together with the fines particles. The experiments were carried out with complexes having the surfactants concentration higher then the critical aggregation concentratio... Optimization of a gas chromatographic method for acrylamide analysis applications for risk management
Environmental Engineering and Management Journal › Vol. 8 › Nr. 2 AbstractThe paper proposes a simple and less expensive gas chromatographic method for analyzing acrylamide in food and reveals comparative results regarding the acrylamide content in commercial and home toasted bread. Validation of the method has been achieved by establishing parameters linearity, limit of detection (LOD = 0.1 mg/L), limit of quantization (LOQ = 0.5 mg/L), precision, stability. Run-to-run precision was determined by carrying out five replicate determinations for three acrylamide... IMMOBILIZATION OF CONIDIOBOLUS CORONATUS ALKALINE PROTEASE ON WASTE FUNGAL BIOMASS
Environmental Engineering and Management Journal › Vol. 10 › Nr. 11 Abstract:Alkaline protease from Conidiobolus coronatus which is optimally active at pH 10 and 40°C finds application in leather and detergent industries as well as for recovery of silver from waste photographic films. The protease was immobilized in Ca-alginate, polyacrylamide gel and alkali treated waste fungal biomass (ATWFB). ATWFB was found to be most suitable among the matrices tested. Glutaraldehyde marginally increased the binding to ATWFB. Binding of protease to ATWFB seems to be through... PHYSICOCHEMICAL AND RHEOLOGICAL CHARACTERIZATION OF COMPLEX COAGULANTS DERIVED FROM WEAK AND MEDIUM ANIONIC POLYMERS AND MEDIUM CATIONIC SURFACTANT
Environmental Engineering and Management Journal › Vol. 11 › Nr. 1 This paper presents the physicochemical and rheological properties of some complex coagulants derived from the weak and medium anionic polymers and medium cationic surfactant in order to evaluate the opportunity to use them in destabilizing and removing the colloidal systems from water and wastewater. In this respect, weak anionic and medium anionic copolymers of acrylamide and sodium acrylate with commercial names of Preastol 2515 and Preastol 2540, and a medium cationic surfactant derived from... ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY HYDROGELS BASED ON POLYACRYLAMIDE AND ACETONE-FORMALDEHYDE RESINS: RHEOLOGICAL MONITORING
Environmental Engineering and Management Journal › Vol. 13 › Nr. 3 AbstractCosmetics, toiletry and household cleaning products are often based on different types of polymeric gels with specific rheologicalbehavior. Dynamic shear oscillation measurements were used for the monitoring of in situ polymerization process, and todetermine the viscoelastic properties of the hydrogels based on polyacrylamide and acetone-formaldehyde resin. Both storagemodulus G’ and loss modulus G” were measured in real time during the gelation process carried out directly between the p... PERFORMANCE EVALUATION OF ANIONIC POLYMER-CATIONIC SURFACTANT COMPLEX COAGULANTS IN WATER TREATMENT
Environmental Engineering and Management Journal › Vol. 13 › Nr. 8 AbstractThe performance of some complex coagulants derived from weak and medium anionic polymers and medium cationic surfactantin coagulation-flocculation process for water treatment was experimentally investigated by carrying out kinetic studies and bydetermining the optimum coagulant dose. The complex coagulants were prepared from weak anionic and medium anioniccopolymers of acrylamide and sodium acrylate with the commercial names Praestol 2515 and Praestol 2540, and mediumcationic surfactant ... PNiPAM-FUNCTIONALIZED MESOPOROUS CARBON FOR THE ADSORPTION OF VITAMIN B2
Environmental Engineering and Management Journal › Vol. 14 › Nr. 3 Abstract
The present research reports the synthesis of poly-N-isopropylacrylamide / mesoporous carbon composites, prepared by radical
polymerization of N-isopropylacrylamide inside mesoporous carbon pores functionalized with carboxylic groups. The deposition
of poly-N-isopropylacrylamide on mesoporous carbon was confirmed by FT-IR spectroscopy, TEM, N2-sorption measurements.
The mesoporous carbon material was found to adsorb vitamin B2 from aqueous solution at room temperature. The obtained

EFFECTIVE MERCURY REMOVAL USING A NEW DEVELOPED POLYMER CONTAINING 2-(2′ THIAZOLYLAZO) P-CRESOL
Environmental Engineering and Management Journal › Vol. 15 › Nr. 11 A new material containing 2-(2′ thiazolylazo) p-cresol (TAC) grafted poly acrylamide (PAA) was prepared and its adsorption
ability was studied for the removal of inorganic mercury from aqueous media. Adsorption of Mercury (II) ions from aqueous
solution was investigated in detail as a function of mercury concentration, pH, ionic strength, and temperature. The adsorption
data were analyzed by using the Langmuir, Freundlich and Dubinin-Radushkevich (DR) models. The adsorption of Mercury (... Autori: Selçuk Şimşek ISSN: 1843 - 3707 http://www.ecozone.ro/reviste.php?RID=27170
